I am 1000% okay with this form of retro styling. I need it in my life.
The worst part is it’s a Daihatsu so even if it made it to production it wouldn’t make it to the US.

We live in a strange time, cars were invented and the styling of the vehicles has gone through so much as tech changed. So at some point aero might just dictate how a car looks unless we dip back into the past. Before too long there won’t be much else we can do with the general layout of a passenger car or SUV, truck. Boxy, swoopy... I mean the best thing is the shape of an Aptera (RIP). I too like we’ll done retro and it’s cool to see designs that make it past the regulations.

Hell, it wouldn’t even make it anywhere outside of Asia, possibly not even Japan because of Daihatsu pulling out of Europe, which was one of the last places they still sold cars.

Yeah, it does look fantastic. They could always slap a Toyota or Subaru badge on it and try to find some export potential.

I think things will continue as they always have. There will be cars with inspired design, and cars with no inspiration for the masses.

Why does Japan have to be so selfish with their best cars.

It does have a family resemblance, for sure, especially the pseudo tail fins like on the Prius and Mirai, only attractive.

Daihatsu pulled out of Europe years ago also.
But we can at least grey import them to the U.K. legally new and as soon as they hit Japanese showrooms.

Yes, I would be so okay with this being the next gen Corolla, or even Prius. Although I’d love it even more with RWD.

Daihatsu tried coming here in the late 80's, early 90's but didn’t do very well because their cars were small, and gas was cheap then, so why bother buying a small car?

Are there really any similarities between those two designs? The color maybe...Perhaps the grill...

That’s why I loot it. It’s entirely retro without being entirely derivative.
